NEWS
Just a short follow-up to our banquet on Feb. 6. It was great to see everyone and we missed those who were not able to attend! We had plenty of
great food and door prizes. For those that were not in attendance, we talked about the March Madness show that is now just a little over a month
away. If you have not reserved your stalls or paid warm-ups you probably need to go ahead and get that done. A copy of the show bill is available
on the show schedule page and has that contact information.
We also discussed the new year-end awards program which will be implemented this year. A copy of that can be seen by clicking here. Please take a look as
there are some conditions that you will need to meet in order to qualify for year-end awards.
On particular note, in addition to being a KRHA member, you must either sponsor a class or buckle, or volunteer 4 hours at our shows during the year.
A copy of the class/buckle sponsor sheet is available by clicking here and if you would like to sign up, please send me an email at cjstables@earthlink.net. If you wish to volunteer to work at the show, please email Sheryl Strathman at horseplayx5@sbcglobal.net.
Hang in there everyone! Winter is almost over and the show season is about to begin!!!

What is Reining?
Reining is a judged event designed to show the athletic ability of a ranch type horse in the confines of a show arena. Often called the “Dressage” of Western events, the Reining Horse event is the ultimate blending of horse and rider, combining speed and maneuverability through a series of intricate patterns.Reining is the most recent addition to the United States Equestrian Team. This is partly due to the excitement that Reining provides for the participant and spectator alike. Across the country Reining events are drawing larger and larger crowds to the premier events. In NRHA competition, contestants are required to run one of ten approved patterns. Each pattern includes small slow circles, large fast circles, flying lead changes, roll backs, 360 degree spins done in place, and exciting sliding stops that are the hallmark of the reining horse.
About the KRHA
An affiliate of the NRHA, the KRHA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of the Reining Horse in Kansas. Our grass roots organization hosts reining, fun shows and clinics, as well as providing information to anyone interested in the reining horse. The association was formed in 1987 and provides a forum for exhibitors, breeders and anyone interested in the sport of Reining.
